Apple Walnut Salad

Introduction:
You will be amazed how much money you can save by serving this size of dish for a big party instead of buying the same amount from a fast food store. Enjoy and Have Fun….

Ingredient:
10 Apples (chopped or sliced; your preference)
1/2LB Seedless Red Grapes
½ Cup (2.5oz) Ching’s Chinese Glazed Walnuts
2 Cups Yogurt (optional; your preference of flavors)

Serves 8-10 people

(Refer to You Can Cook More Chinese Page 4 “Stop the Already-Cut Veggies and Fruit from Oxidation”)

Cut apples in quarters
Lay the flat side down and cut the core out by tilting the knife at about 45-degree angle.
Slice the apples to 1/8 or chop it to the mouthful size

Add grapes and walnuts on top
Serve yogurt aside
Ready to serve

TIPS

You can have any flavor and amount of yogurt.
Best is to serve 2-3 different flavors of yogurt for this big number of people

Baked Beans with Walnuts

Ingredient:
1 Can (1LB) Store Bought Baked Beans
2 Hot Dogs (diced in cubes)
¼ Cup (1oz) Ching’s Chinese Glazed Walnuts

Serves 2-4 people

Follow the instructions on the package on the can to heat up the beans

When it starts simmering, add hot dogs in

Stir and let it cook for about 1-2 minutes

 

Transfer the beans into a serving bowl

Sprinkle walnuts on top

Ready to serve

TIPS
Best served with white rice
Size of the cubed hot dogs should be ¼” which will be easier to heat them up
If you don’t like hot dogs, you can replace it with bacon bits, cubed ham, cubed spam or just put the walnuts on top

Ching's Chinese Walnuts Trail Mix

If you sit at the same place for a couple hours, you may start hungry and want to munch on something. Trail mix i a very good and healthy snack. But I learn from a lot of people that they don't like certain kinds of food in their trail mix. I worked with a couple women that they even picked out the stuffs they don't like. This inspired me to put this recipe together.

Ingredients:
1 Bag (5oz) Ching's Chinese Honey Glazed Walnuts
2 Cups Pretzel Bites
2 Rice Cakes (break into bite size)
1/4 Cup Dried Cherries
1 Cup Dried Apricot
1 Cup Honey Flavor Cereal

Put all the ingredients in a paper bag
Then, put the whole bag, including the paper bag into the plastic storage bag to keep the freshness.

TIPS
Although it is dried fruit, there is still some moisture which will affect the crunchiness of the walnuts, pretzel, rice cakes and cereal. Therefore, a paper bag is required.
Great for traveling, any occasions and for kids snacking.
Some people even like to put candies and chocolate in their trail mix. If this is the case, the rule of thumb is to just put one kind of candies or chocolate into the trail mix. And always just put one recommended serving according t the nutrient fact label at the back of the package. Then, you will not add too much extra calories and sugar into your healthy snack.

Game Day Walnut Snacks

Ingredient:
2LB Polish Sausage “Kielbasa” (Sliced at an angle)
2 Bags Ching’s Chinese Glazed Walnuts

Serves 8-10 people

Preheat the oil in deep fryer
(Refer to You Can Cook More Chinese Page 5 “Check Oil’s Heat without a Thermometer”)
Deep fry the sausage a couple pieces at a time
Take them out after 10-20 seconds
Transfer to a paper-towel plate to drain the extra grease

Transfer to a big serving plate and put together with the walnuts side by side
Ready to serve

REMEMBER:
The skin will get burned easily. If you are not big in the skin, you can skin the sausage before cooking
Kielbasa can be served cool after cooking
You can replace Kielbasa with Jumbo Hot Dogs. Just slice them up at an angle.
DON’T FORGET THE BEER!

Chocolate-Marshmellow Treat

Ingredient:
1 Bag (10oz) Marshmellow Balls
1 Bag (11.5oz) Chocolate Chips/Morsels (Any flavor you like)
2oz Ching's Chinese Glazed Walnuts
1 Bag Medium Length Skewers
2 Cups Water

Put marshmellow in freezer for an hour
Stick skewers through marshmellow
(When you feel the skewer's tip touching your finger tip, that's good enough)

Put walnuts in a zip lock bag
Use a pan to hit on the bag until walnuts are in small pieces

Boil 2 Cups of Water
When it boils, put a glass or stainless steel bowl on top
Use the double boiler to melt the chocolate
Dip the marshmellow into it and sprinkle walnuts on top
Sit the marshmellow on the wax-paper baking sheet
Put into the fridge for 20-25 minutes to let chocolate harden and serve

Serves 12+ people

REMEMBER:
This is a fun dish to cook with your kids.

Walnut Bananas

Ingredients:
3 pcs Bananas (Sliced at angle)
1/3 Cup (1.5oz) Ching’s Chinese Walnuts

Seasonings:
1 tbsp Brown Sugar

Serves 2-3 people

Preheat frying pan at medium high heat
Add 1tbsp oil/butter; then add bananas
Let it cook for about a minute
Add sugar in
Stir until sugar has melted
Transfer to the serving plate and add walnuts on top
Ready to serve

REMEMBER:
You can replace with apples
Serve this as ice-cream or pancakes topping or add whipped cream on top
As usual, you can adjust the sweetness per your preference

Walnut Cezar Salad

Instead of using crouton, use Ching\'s Chinese Glazed Walnuts to incorporate into your low-carb diet

Walnut Ice-Cream Sandwich

Ingredients:
1 Box (1.75Quart) Vanilla Ice-Cream
1 Cup (4oz) Ching’s Chinese Glazed Walnuts
1 Bag Cookies (your preference)

Serves 8-10 people

Before starting anything, take the ice-cream from freezer to fridge
Let it thaw about 15 minutes

Lay out the cookies
Put a scoop of ice-cream on top
Then put another cookie on top of the ice-cream
Squash it

Put the walnuts in a zip lock bag
Use a meat tenderizer or a cooking pan hitting the bag a couple of times to break down the nuts to smaller pieces
Transfer the nuts to a plate

Roll the edge of ice-cream sandwich on the plate of walnuts

Repeat the same steps until you get enough for everybody

Ready to serve

REMEMBER:
If you are not ready to serve this dessert after completing all the steps, you can put the sandwiches back to the freezer until you are ready.

Walnut Rice Pudding

Ingredients:
1LB Store-Bought Rice Pudding
¼ Cup (1oz) Ching’s Chinese Glazed Walnuts

Serves 4-6 people

 

Take a piece of walnut and grate it on top of the pudding

Use a spoon to fold it in about 3-4 times (remember: don’t stir)

Transfer rice pudding into the serving cups

 

Grate a little bit more on top of the pudding to garnish

Add a couple pieces of walnuts on top

Ready to serve

 

TIPS

You can use any kind of plain rice pudding, such as home-made.  Best not to have raisins or cinnamon in the pudding so that the aroma of the walnuts in the pudding will not be overpowered.
